Hackathon of WG1 and WG2 on Improving crop growth models by the inclusion of remote sensing
We invite you to submit the application for the hackathon on improving crop growth models by the inclusion of remote sensing, which will take place at Aarhus University, Aarhus, Denmark, between 28th and 29th August 2025.
Deadline for submission: 22nd June 2025
During the event, the basic concepts of crop growth models, vegetation trait retrieval from remote sensing, and data assimilation will be presented. Participants will use a dataset of remote sensing, meteorological, and ancillary data to model crop yield.
Prior experience with retrieving vegetation traits from reflectance data and/or crop growth models is a welcome advantage, but not a must with sufficient motivation. All participants (or couples of participants) will be asked to provide the results of their modelling with a description of their approach. The results of the hackathon will be used to prepare a publication to which all participants will be invited as co-authors.
We kindly ask applicants to consider that all work on modeling will not be completed during the meeting and will require additional time after the meeting to finalize the work. Please apply for in-person attendance only if you are willing to commit to this work.
